April 11, 2010: Announements & Meetings

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Gayle returns! Thank you for your warm welcome back from my Sabbatical. It was a blessed time for me and I can’t wait to share with you my experiences, new ideas, and my thankfulness to be called to this community of faith. Many thanks to all who served this church in my absence: the Deacons, the Lay Preachers, the Lay Visitors, and especially the hard work and prayers of Jane Roberts and Jo Chase.
Communion Offering: The Mission Committee has chosen the Rochester District Visiting Nurse Association for the April mission. The VNA has been serving this area since 1913, providing home health care, skilled services, support services and community health services. The VNA also provides an Adult Day Center that is open daily from 8:00am—5:00pm, with transportation available to those in need. This is located at their facility at 178 Farmington Rd., Rochester, NH. (Please note: when making checks to support Mission giving, make them payable to NCC, with Mission in the Memo section, so that the funds can be properly tracked and then allocated to that Mission.)
Roast Beef Supper: NCC’s Annual Roast Beef Supper will be held on Saturday, May 8th. Two seating will be available: 5:00pm and 6:15pm. Costs are: $4 for children 12 and under; $8 for adults. Volunteers are needed to do jobs from serving to cleaning up to selling tickets to baking pies. Please contact Pam English at 942.8501 or the church office at 942.7116 to reserve your tickets!

Prepaid cards to benefit NCC: We are continuing on with our fundraising efforts by selling prepaid cards. We encourage church members to use these cards for everyday purchases like gas and groceries. The beauty of this program is that you can purchase prepaid cards to buy items that you get each week anyway, but with a percentage going back to the church. If you regularly shop at stores like Wal-Mart, Sears, Best Buy, or Circle K, please buy these prepaid cards from us and then use them to pay for your purchase at the store. It will not cost you any additional money to get the cards, and we'll even deliver them to you at church on Sunday. Orders must be placed by 10:30am on the 3rd Sunday of each month, and will be delivered on the following Sunday at church. You may continue using the paper forms found in Fellowship Hall to place your orders and pay by check, or you can visit www.ShopWithScrip.com to place your orders online. Please pick up a detail sheet in Fellowship Hall for the access code to become a member of this online site. We even have access to their PrestoPay feature that can enable you to pay online by linking your checking account number to your membership. Please contact Tiffany George if you have any questions about the program at 332.5808 or t_george12@hotmail.com.
Centering Prayer: You are all invited to a time of centering prayer every Wednesday at 8:00 am for 30 minutes. Jo Chase is hosting us in her home at 306 Catamount Road.

Some pictures of items that we need to address on the church building

In the picture above, you can see how decomposing leaves and moisture weaken the building and ruin the paint. Below are a few shots of the deck below the portico. The columns that support tons of framing are beginning to rot. It should he noted that these are wooden and hollow.
